What Was That Noise?
Words and music by Jaye Krebs © (SOCAN)
Now it's time to go to sleep
I wash my face and brush my teeth
climb into bed (it's getting late)
Turn out the light but wait...
What was that noise that I heard in the hall
It sounded like a zombie eating bones
with a crunch as he crawls
He’s probably big, with black rotten teeth
and skin dropping off with slimy bugs underneath
It's getting closer, I can feel it ...I reach out, turn on my light and see it! Oh…
It’s just my dad, shuffling his feet cross the floor
Munching crunchy crackers as he passes my door
Oh it’s all good and I turn out the light and if I hear that noise again
I will remember what it was and I won't be scared
So I’m going to sleep but wait … wait...
What was that noise, snuffling round by my bed?
It sounded like a dragon getting ready to pounce on my head
It's probably huge, with red googly eyes
With wings made of leather and teeth of a monstrous size
It's getting closer, I can feel it ...I reach out, turn on my light and see it! Ah…
It’s just my dog, snuffling my clothes by the door
Spinning round and round before he sleeps on the floor
So it’s all good and I turn out the light
and if I hear that noise again
I will remember what it was and I won't be scared
So I’m going to sleep but wait … wait...
What was that noise sneaking into my room?
Sounded like a scaly, hunchback creature of doom
It’s probably enormous, with seven inch claws
With cesspool drool that drips and slips from its jaws
It's getting closer, I can feel it ...I reach out, turn on my light and see it! Hmmm…
It’s just my mom, tiptoeing into the light
She steps round the dog to come and kiss me goodnight
So it’s all good and I turn out the light
and if I hear that noise again
I will remember what it was and I won't be scared
So I’m going to sleep but wait … wait...
What was that noise,
but I’m not scared because
It sounded like a great big yawn
And that’s just what it was!
